María de la Paz Fernández, the mayor of Ronda finally decides to share the success of the Tajo Gorge Pathway. Only within the first month, this tourist trail has made quite some remarkable success. With this trail, hikers get a unique view of the landmark of the beautiful Ronda, along with the Hoya del Tajo and its Puente Nuevo. The pathway has already managed to attract over 18.000 visitors only within the time spam of 30 days. Daily, this trail has seen an average of 600 visitors that clearly does not fail to using their reviews and convincing more visitors to try this. This trail has not only made an impressive progress in a small time space, it also made itself the most visited public space in Ronda and among the top in the whole of Malaga province.
According to the mayor of Ronda, the town awaits even more visitors because many of the previous visitors are excited to try out the second phase of the pathway. The second pathway is not finished yet as it’s going through its development phase. Recent data reveals that 42.2% of the tourists which is the majority visiting this new trail are local Spanish people. British tourists come second with a percentage of 15.6 and right after Americans and Belgian with a similarity of 5.7%. 19.3% has a mix of several other foreign countries from different continents including Estonia, Canada and Australia. Interestingly, out of a total of 100%, 7.8% are residents of Ronda meaning this activity is succeeding from different parts.
Tajo Gorge is a must visit destination
Another thing the mayor highlights is that this activity is crucial in upgrading Ronda’s title as a must visit destination Malaga. Their goal is to attract visitors into staying longer and to make those visitors vary between tourists and professionals.
However, besides individual tourists, this pathway has had several group tours for tourists visit them. Ronda’s departments of Tourism, Culture, Education and Senior services all have so far organised group tourists to this pathway. Whether it’s local students or individuals joining cultural workshops in the region, this new trail has welcomed all kinds.
The second phase of the pathway progress was also mentioned by the mayor. The project has over 1.2 million euros that’s co-financed by the provincial council of Malaga.
