The Picasso museum, which is a gem for tourists and expats, has scheduled a retrospective exhibition for April 30.
The new exhibition was put together by the author, Jose Lebrero. It goes by the name María Blanchard: Painter Beyond Cubism. The focus will be on different stages of the life of the famous Spanish painter María Blanchard. She was born in 1881 in Santander and passed away in Paris in 1932. She is known to have been the first woman to use cubism in her paintings. Cubism is when you show things from different angles and break them up into pieces.
Until now, she was still seen as a woman who had a unique style of cubism and was a modern-style artist.
This exhibition is part of the women’s artist’s works that the Picasso Museum has showcased over the last years. It will be displayed until September 29 and it costs 8 euros to visit the museum.
Note: On Sundays, during the last opening hours, you can visit for free.
