
Antonio Banderas, the renowned Malaga-born actor, director and producer, is set to have a busy season with projects. Soon enough, he will reunite with Anthony Hopkins for a new TV project. This project serves as a reunion after 15 years since their last work together in Woody Allen’s comedy drama. Together, they will work on the new movie “You Will Meet a tall dark stranger”. Filming for this movie will start during the summer in Serbia.
Theatre plans
Besides from this exciting movie project, Antonio will doing some theatre productions. At Malaga’s CaixaBank Soho Theatre, Antonio will direct two upcoming musicals. The first one he will direct is “Tocando nuestra canción which is basically a Spanish adaption of “they’re playing our song”. This theatre will go on from June 6th till July 14th 2024. Additionally, the second production will be for “Gipsy” and it will display at the theatre of Calle Córdoba. According to a statement of Antonio, for the upcoming months, he will put his focus straight on directing and producing. With this as his main concentration priority, he will leave acting for a while until he wraps up those projects. However, in the future, he will return to the big stage both in Malaga and internationally.
During fall 2025, Antonio is planning to return to New York’s theatre district. Assumptions on what he would be doing there includes a musical about Pablo Picasso, but that’s yet to be confirmed by him. Fans of Antonio are particularly excited about the New York project as it is in collaboration with composer Stephen Schwartz. Stephen was the composer of the successful movie “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” that scored three Oscar’s.
