If you wish to treat yourself to luxury, you might take a business class, go shopping for famous brands, etc. However, only a few things can compare to the allure of fine dining in Michelin-starred restaurants. Malaga, although a city renowned for its gastronomy, you might wonder if it exceeds in the fine dining category. Now, whether or not they excel in this category will depend on each person’s personal opinion. However, Malaga does have some very good Michelin-starred restaurants and the following are the top 3 in the city:
José Carlos García
Located within short walking distance of Malaga’s historical sites, the famous fine dining restaurants overlook the beautiful port of Malaga. The name of the restaurant comes from the talented José Carlos García, who is the chef and owner of this place. This restaurant serves a 10- to 14-course menu with wine pairing options. It blends innovation and tradition by making dishes with Andalucian roots and presenting them in an artistic setting. Many visitors shared that the price is quite high but the experience and the food are definitely worth it. José Carlos García also owns another Michelin-starred restaurant in Malaga called Balausta.
Blossom Restaurant
This highly talked-about restaurant is owned by chef Emi Schobert. Born in Argentina, Emi Schobert is both a chef, an elementary school teacher and a cooking instructor. Multi-talented, right? In 2019, chef Emi Schobert moved to Malaga and started Blossom Restaurant. Through his work, he showcases all of his creativity and strives to give customers an unforgettable fine dining experience. Additionally, he interprets various cultures and cooking techniques with his modern fusion cuisine. Alongside his team, they put a great focus on providing a touch of seasonality in their dishes. Their slogan is “art in every bite,” and they prove this with the creativity and design of each dish.
Kaleja
Nominated as the traveler’s choice of 2023, Kaleja is the ultimate Michelin-starred restaurant you should visit. Kaleja is a high-concept restaurant with a modern interior serving an innovative tasting menu. The food tastes fresh, clean and amazingly flavorful. Razor clam, sea urchin, and mackerel are among some of the dishes that some people wouldn’t normally try. However, clients advocate for Kaleja to be the place where you try that one dish you have been hesitating over because it is worth it. Wine pairing is available here as well. Not only is the staff attentive and friendly, they let you visit the kitchen to witness the charcoal and wood cooking.
For any of the three Michelin-starred restaurants listed, it is advised to book with the restaurant itself. Reserving a place with a third party has sometimes resulted in the restaurants having no clue about the reservation.
